If you see or read anything on dA that absolutely awes you, please consider suggesting the piece for a DD feature. FAQ #18: Who selects Daily Deviations and how are they chosen?

So I've been busy suggesting various pieces for DDs.

The CVs and staff, of course, have tons and tons of these things to go through, and sometimes they don't agree with the suggestions they receive. Sometimes they just like something someone else suggested better. But I thought that the least I could do to try to get these artists some more exposure is to provide a feature, and explain why I suggested them..

Now, anything that I suggested and was actually chosen isn't going to be included here - if you check the DDs, then you've seen those already. ;) This journal will focus on those pieces I suggested up until March. Anything suggested in March will be posted at the beginning of April.

If you happen to like any of these, whether you agree with my reasons or have your own, please give the artists some love - comments, :+fav:s, even a :+devwatch: if you're so inclined. All would be appreciated by them!

Though it is titled in such a way to construe it as a Christmas piece, this work is relevant throughout the year. The situations expressed in the piece are daily reality for many, and presenting such ideas during the winter holidays simply punctuates the stark contrast of things we often are consumed with as opposed to those things with which we should concern ourselves.
Smell of fresh grass by StormyyWolf
StormyyWolf has captured simplicity with this photograph. Not only have they chosen an animal that is not often shown on deviantART for their subject, but the moment that they have managed to eternally freeze on film reflects a certain peace and tranquility that often eludes us in life, much less in art.
Mecha Yoshi by Spritedude
This piece shows an excellent re-imagining of a classic game character. It's an intriguing melding of the beloved Mario world with the popular forms of mechanized artwork. Spritedude has done a wonderful job in creating an excellent caricature of Yoshi, displaying his own artistic skills beautifully in the process.
RT Shorts: The Mysterious Case of the Cat in the..Jimmy bolted upright in complete darkness.
The bed was empty. This was nothing new. His unfortunate habit of complaining to Seth “Blabbermouth” Crey about the little irritations of his life meant that the newly crowned king made it impossible for his butler to keep a long term relationship with anyone, even his mother.
However, he’d felt a rustle in the covers beside him. Probably wishful thinking, he thought sourly, settling back into the covers with a sigh.
A moment of silence occurred.
“Mew.”
“AAAHH!!”
Something fluffy had squirmed up his shirt and he nearly bolted from the bed and set his shirt on fire trying to light a candle. Two green eyes peered at him from within his collar and mewed again.
He grabbed the cat by the scruff of its neck and yanked it out roughly. It gazed at him mournfully and pawed at his face feebly in an attempt to inspire release.
He swallowed carefully. A supernatural intuition he’d inherited from his m

BlueNightFire has done a marvelous job of developing the comedy in the piece, building it within the story through the use of common superstitions. Culminating finally in the collision of two such myths, humor is even maintained in the twisted ending of the tale.

imperfect-parachute has captured the idea of what the purpose behind writing is, as well as the feeling that many writers have about their works. The last stanza sums up a great truth while reminding us that sometimes true gems can be found when filtering through the sand.
Flaminghost by DeviantTeddine
DeviantTeddine has captured a truly brilliant moment with this photo. The illusion created by the ripples in the water as the flamingo's beak breaks the surface makes this a truly wonderful picture of complex depth.
3D Origami - Chibi Harley Quinn by Jobe3DO
Jobe3DO has displayed superb skill in creating a three-dimensional chibi expression of a well-known character. The curves in the paper only add to the cute "anime" feel of an otherwise ruthless villain.
'Timeless treasure' silver pendant (SOLD) by seralune
seralune has beautifully blended metalwork and natural elements in this pendant. The silver intertwined with the seashell displays an extraordinary piece of craftsmanship. The intricate details in the metalwork both complement and contrast the shell, making this a truly exquisite piece of jewelry.
Sunrise Sentinel by Brian-B-Photography
Sunrise Sentinel shows one of nature's most intricate and interesting phenomena. Brian-B-Photography has captured a beautiful scene, focusing on a rock that has given birth to life, holding it up to the heavens as the sun crests over the clouds in the distance.
Queen of the Sea by 35-Elissandro
Queen of the Sea shows an absolutely stunning picture that could relate to any of the ancient myths regarding the sea. But beyond its subject, 35-Elissandro has displayed elegantly a seamless transition from the world beneath the water to that above. Actions on the surface are reflected in the water below.

In addition, great care has been taken to show the background of both arenas, giving a well-rounded image that is simply breathtaking.
Forever Alone by molnarlaslo
molnarlaslo has managed to capture sorrow, desolation, and misery within this image. The bleak background, showing only the sky of an alien world, only highlights the despair the subject is feeling.
Poverty by sharpiemaster
sharpiemaster has captured with exquisite detail the issue of poverty in this image. They have shown us an unwelcome and highly uncomfortable truth, evident not only in the subject of the image, but also in the reflection in his eye.
Wonderment by RubyRyn
RubyRyn has captured the essence of childhood in this image. Seeing the world with wonder and without fear or apprehension are shown beautifully in this piece.
Lose yourself by frostyshadows
In this piece, frostyshadows has beautifully captured the idea that what we read on the page can be brought to life by a combination of wonderful words and a vivid imagination.
ChiouRin has managed to capture in very few words some uncomfortable truths about humanity in general.
The Bug Catchers by Daroneasa
Daroneasa captures childlike wonder and curiosity within this piece while causing the viewer to be intrigued about the delightfully wonderful world depicted.
Who made man's mouth? by The-Vandalist
The-Vandalist has taken a classic image and shown it from a new perspective, brilliantly blending stock elements to create an almost monochromatic rendering of this moment that is pivotal to three major world religions.
Mermaid by DMD-CT
The exquisite detail of DMD-CT's work serves to highlight the beautiful moment she's captured between the mermaid and the dragon.
Vento no Litoral by guilhermepaz
guilhermepaz has captured with wonderful detail a moment on the beach that encourages a feeling of calm, pulling the viewer into the scene to take their place for a brief time alongside the birds.
Chamallow III - Crystal ballet by gotman68
gotman68 has displayed superb skill in manipulating stock images to create a marvelous image. While his gallery is filled with marvelous images, this particular work shows a beautifully choreographed dance between the characters and the elements surrounding them.
Selektion by lenyca
lenyca has blended various images into this depiction of a role reversal on the food chain brilliantly.

Kibblywibbly has done a wonderful job blending the stock elements into creating a very believable image. With the blur around the edges of the frame, Kibblywibbly has also made the image appear to be a sidewalk chalk painting, which is a brilliant touch for this particular work.
More Than A Mouthful by Merhlin
Merhlin has captured a moment in nature that is often overlooked with wonderful precision. The focus of the image clearly displays frozen motion but also showcases a story that Merhlin takes the time to describe in their artist's comments.
Houston, We Have Touch-Down by shadowfire-x
shadowfire-x has not only captured a serene moment showing several of the avians landing in the water, but the image has excellent composition in showing the reflection of the birds in the surface of the water with such clarity.
Incoming Gull by eaglesdarephoto
eaglesdarephoto has captured a wonderful image of a bird in flight. The composition of the photo puts the full focus on the bird, the angle allowing us to see even more clearly the motion present in the image both with the bird and the wind carrying it.
Organic beige golden turquoise seashell by Faeriedivine
Faeriedivine has captured a unique beauty in this piece of blown glass. The pearlesque color of the outside and the oceanic hues of the inside seem to capture the sea in reverse. With a hollowed inside, it resembles a pearl purse, a truly one-of-a-kind artisan craft.

AnguisPoetica has shown incredible talent with the piece she's created, displaying a moving scene with embroidery as the medium. The detail is stunningly rendered, including the stool and the noose. Even the portions of the material appearing to be pulled due to strain from the needlework look intentional, giving the impression of forces trying to separate the girl and the tree from one another.

coastbeachartist has very imaginatively created a digital work which captures the feeling of scratchboard etchings and traditional painting. Captain of the Temple Green Guardians Stylized shows a beautiful amount of skill with the grand amount of detail included in the piece. The contrast of the colors makes the characters stand apart, even while the coloring itself has a surreal quality to it.
Colour Red by XanaduPhotography
XanaduPhotography has beautifully captured an image of an everyday meal, giving the viewer cause to consider the beauty in the mundane.
DD - Romance - Opal Ring by FILIGRY
Symbolism is artfully displayed in FILIGRY's stunningly detailed metalwork - an exquisite ring that captures romance in almost every nuance. The intertwined scrollwork along the side is accented beautifully by the beadwork and delicate wire weaving surrounding the stone. These elements only serve to highlight the single silver bead that seems to be immersed in a sea of pearlescent white.
Peacefully by debNise
In this piece, debNise has exquisitely illustrated precisely why we should cherish every moment of our lives. By depicting a perfectly ordinary moment, she has shown that death can strike at any time. Her blending of stock to create a scene that could be present in anyone's life on any day is masterfully done and allows us to feel the power death has to strike us down at any instant.

There were quite a few that I didn't describe so well why I felt they were worthy of a DD that I'm not including here. I'm going to write out my suggestions in a way that should be more compatible to how the "suggester said" section is represented on the DD page. If they aren't accepted, they will be posted on the March feature.

Please don't be upset if your piece isn't in this list.

I picked pieces that I found very unique, inspiring, or thought-provoking, and that I felt had a decent chance of being accepted by the CVs and staff to whom they were suggested. Just because I don't suggest a deviation doesn't mean I don't love it to pieces, and just because they don't feature it doesn't mean they don't. It only means that they have so many suggestions coming in that they have to pick the best out of everything.

If you've enjoyed this feature, please let the artists know! They'd love to have your feedback. Thanks for reading!
